Music Mondays: Tonight (I Wish I Was Your Boy) by The 1975

Happy Monday! The song I'm choosing for this week is Tonight (I Wish I Was Your Boy) by The 1975. The song showcases the idea of yearning for a romantic lover, but ultimately besmirching one’s own self, thus any possibility of a relationship with this person is “fucked… royally”. This song is most likely about Matty’s ex-girlfriend, Gabriela Brooks, and the lyrics are probably about him missing her and seeing her move on, especially since she’s getting really close with Liam Hemsworth. He references their relationship in “I Couldn’t Be More In Love,” off of their previous album A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships and “The Birthday Party”.

Music Mondays: no song without you by HONNE

Happy Monday! The song I'm choosing for this week is no song without you by HONNE. HONNE is a British electronic-soul duo formed in 2014 in Bow, London, consisting of James Hatcher (Producer) and Andy Clutterbuck (Singer/Producer). "Honne (本音)" is a Japanese word that means "true feelings", ones you only share with your closest companions. The duo happened upon the word and instantly fell in love with its meaning and felt that it fit with what they're writing.

Music Mondays: [English Translation] I’m in Love by Shota Shimizu

Music Mondays are back! It’s been a long time since I last posted for this meme. However, these days I am translating Japanese songs on Musixmatch for practice. I figured I should post them here too.

The song for this week is Yumehanabi (夢花火) by Novelbright. Yumehanbi can be translated as Dream Fireworks. I was listening to Spotify Japan Velocity Chart and I immediately fell in love with this song.

Music Mondays: La vie en rose by Michael Bublé feat. Cécile McLorin Salvant

Michael Bublé’s latest album is out now! There was a rumor that he is retiring but I’m glad he clarified that he isn’t yet. I really like his songs and covers, it relaxes me.

The song I am choosing this week is La vie en rose, which I’m sure many of us are familiar with. This version is a duet with Cécile McLorin Salvant. I personally love the French parts.

Music Mondays: Cool Cat by Queen

I just saw Bohemian Rhapsody last Friday! I was excited to watch it but movies are shown a little late in where I live, so, yeah…

I absolutely loved the movie so this week, I am choosing a Queen song called Cool Cat. I’m not sure if I should call this song underrated but I think it is underrated compared to other Queen songs. I love it because Freddie’s falsetto just sounds heavenly.

Music Mondays: You Come First by Zak Abel feat. Saweetie

I’m back! I skipped Music Monday last week because I was so busy. Even now, I’m still busy. Hopefully, it ends soon and I can catch up on my reading.

For this week, I’m choosing a song I’m currently obsessed with. It’s so catchy and I can’t stop playing it. The song is You Come First by Zak Abel feat. Saweetie. Don’t blame me if you end up repeating it.

Music Mondays: I Wouldn’t Know Any Better Than You by Gentle Bones

For this week, I’m choosing a song by a Singaporean artist. I like listening to artists from different countries and I have a lot of favorites from Singapore. Another one would be Sezairi but let’s save him for another Monday.

The song for this week is I Wouldn’t Know Any Better Than You by Gentle Bones. I really like this song and I had it on repeat for a week after I found out about it.

Music Mondays: It Had to Be You by Tony Bennett feat. Carrie Underwood

For this week, I am choosing a jazz song. I love listening to jazz at night because it relaxes me. It makes me feel nostalgic. It reminds me of candlelit dinners, slow dancing, and a time in the past when people still listen to vinyl. I guess I am an old soul.

The song I choose is It Had to Be You by Tony Bennett. Personally, I like this duet version with Carrie Underwood.
